PrinceRobert de Canterbury
PrincessDelia of Ely
|Robert joined the SCA for the Combat, and stayed for the Company and the Crafts.
England during the 100 years war is his main period of interest, but he will happily dabble in pretty much anything. Armoured Combat, Pewtering, Heraldry, Stone Carving, Period texts in translation, Early Modern English, and Seals are his current areas of particular interest, But Fencing, Music, Brewing, Cooking, Equestrian, Archery, Theatre, Costuming, and Dance are all things he’s spent time on in the past.
One of his great delights is to introduce people with common interests, at events or online. There is a great wealth of knowledge in (and adjacent to) our society, and it is a terrible waste of time to be re-inventing the wheel or struggling alone when collaboration would be quicker & easier.
Robert enjoys focussed events, so he can get truly stuck in to the one thing going on, be it fighting, or teaching a class, or dancing, or making a pilgrimage, or what have you. That said, there is Always time for Good Food.
He has been to Every Single Day of Every Raglan Fair, but One.
(The final, torrential, Monday of Raglan IX, if memory serves)
|Delia is constantly amazed & Intrigued by the skills & Knowledge of the Folk of the SCA.
She Loves the living history aspect especially - watching people cook & prepare food, brew drink, work wood, forge, knit, sew, embroider, do Calligraphy and illuminate scrolls.
Her Mundane work can be quite intensive and exhausting, and until she joined the SCA she had little life outside of work.
It is a pleasure for her to listen to the enthusiasm with which people describe their craft.
At events she wishes to chat, socialise, drink good drink, eat good food, and enjoy the company of a group of truly amazing people.
She has an English Bull Terrier named Tilly, who she would like to be able to come to more events.
She has a passion for the ocean & Tall Ships especially, but boats of any sort, and her dream come true would be an event on a medieval ship!
Neither Princess or Prince have any allergies or food intolerances, They prefer Medieval food & drink, but draw a line at cetaceans, octopus, tripe, and kidneys.
The Royal Household
What you need to know:
The Prince and Princess of Insulae Draconis represent the King and Queen of Drachenwald in the Principality. As such ceremonial representatives of the Crown of Drachenwald, the Prince and Princess should be treated as any other royal couple in the Kingdom. In essence, be courteous and respectful of what the Prince and Princess are representing and of the fact that their time is not their own. Much of each event they attend will be spent officiating, being in meetings, or just listening to people's opinions. Read more about how to behave around the Prince & Princess including at Court.
The Prince and Princess will hold Court at most events at which they are in attendance. They may have announcements for public business but they also are responsible for bestowing Awards on members where the people of Insulae Draconis has recommended that a member should be so honoured. Insulae Draconis has many awards to reward people for hard work, skill and courtesy. You can read more about awards, check whether someone already has an award and then Make an Insulae Draconis Award Recommendation
